Additive Manufacturing – From Development to Application

The first edition of the "Additive Manufacturing | Industry & Development" workshop took place at ifw Jena this week. On February 6, users, scientists and experts from the field of additive manufacturing met at ifw Jena.

For the first time, the institute hosted a workshop to discuss current developments and new ideas on additive manufacturing processes with metallic and ceramic materials. Research findings at ifw Jena on material extrusion processes, powder bed-based processes and diffusion bonding were presented in specialist lectures. During guided laboratory tours and subsequent discussion rounds, the participants were able to learn more about the work of the institute and discuss new plans and projects together.

With the workshop, ifw Jena aims to create a regular platform where representatives from science and industry can exchange information on additive processes, plan the introduction of new processes into their production chains and discuss optimization options for their existing applications.
