The Truck is a free program offered by the Cologne Institute for Economic Research. In the truck’s trailer, young people can learn about cutting-edge technologies, industries, careers, and training opportunities.
A total of six eighth- and ninth-grade classes from the region visited the Truck and tackled exciting challenges from various technical fields in the two-story trailer. Following their visit, the students were given guided tours of the ifw Jena laboratories.
Through hands-on demonstrations of destructive and non-destructive testing methods and at our laser and furnace facilities, they learned about vocational training programs for materials testers and physics laboratory technicians.
Events like these are ideal opportunities to inspire young people to pursue STEM careers and to show them the diverse possibilities available in various industries.
